Abbaye de Saint-Hilaire, Saint-Hilaire, France

Rémi Magnouat and Renaud Héléna, two artists from Carcassonne, will be taking over the refectory of Saint-Hilaire Abbey from 9 to 29 July 2016. They will be presenting an original, multi-layered display of their installation and volume work, where the worlds of the two artists meet, intersect and combine.

Graduates of the Toulouse School of Fine Arts, they share a common interest in manufacturing processes, manipulation and play. For this occasion, they have chosen a plastic approach that focuses on the different ways in which a form appears, right down to the traces of its manufacture.

Renaud Héléna presents a collection of works centred around carnival floats (les corsos), highlighting the ephemeral nature of these colourful decorations, in the confused space between their construction and their disappearance.
